It is a pleasure to welcome you to the La Mesa Jr. High School website.  Our website is designed to provide you with a wealth of information concerning our school.  La Mesa has a strong tradition of outstanding achievements in academics and co-curricular activities.

    Our students’ exceptional performance is derived from a staff devoted to every student achieving educational excellence.   Students are pushed to achieve, to stretch and grow beyond the perceived self-imposed limitations and untested abilities.  Our staff’s ability to instill in students a confidence of success inspires students to work hard and enjoy junior high school life.

    Parents, students and staff are all partners in our commitment to excellence.  We work together to maintain and improve our outstanding programs.  Parents’ involvement takes many forms at La Mesa including PTSA, Site Council, Advisory Committee, fundraising, team parents, team meetings, etc.  Together we have the talent, drive and commitment to make our vision of educational excellence a reality.  We welcome your involvement and participation with these excellent opportunities to assist students with the learning process.

    La Mesa’s vision is based upon the core values of:  Learning to one’s potential; growth, an enjoyable challenge; honesty and respect for self and others; and education being a family affair…thus providing educational excellence for all.  Through our vision, we are on the path to become the most “IN DEMAND” junior high school in the Santa Clarita Valley.

    Over the next five years, our vision for student achievement will focus on two areas:  Literacy and the Respectful School.  We are committed to supporting literacy at every level all day long in order for all students to become joyful, independent readers and writers.  We demonstrate our commitment to literacy through Silent Sustained Reading, targeted funding, reading class, staff development, writing strategies, Thinking Maps, AVID, etc.  Our commitment for the respectful school creates a school climate of safety and respect which enables all students to thrive and succeed.  We demonstrate this commitment through programs such as the Safe School Ambassadors, No Name Calling Week, Peace Classes, Anti-Bullying, and La Mesa Diplomats.

    Our curriculum is standards based stressing the (3Rs + 3Rs) which includes the traditional Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic, but also includes a Rigorous and Relevant curriculum and building strong Relations with the La Mesa family and school community.
