The California Student Aid Commission has extended its application deadline, giving California students and parents the opportunity to apply for financial aid (including Cal Grant) until April 1, 2022. This is great news for students and parents who may have missed the March 2, 2022, deadline! This means that you can still apply for financial aid for the 2022-23 school year with the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application for Cal Grant consideration.
California students who have received or who are currently awaiting admissions decisions from UC, CSU and private colleges are strongly encouraged to apply for financial aid if they have not done so. Applying is the only way to ensure that students will be considered for all the financial aid programs available to them. Financial aid programs include an assortment of federal and state programs that make it possible to address the financial needs of college students.
Students attending California Community Colleges should also apply by the extended April 1 deadline, and no later than September 2. If students are planning to apply to the Canyons Promise program, it is recommended by COC to complete and submit the FAFSA by April 18 to ensure processing by the deadline for Canyons Promise, which is 5:00 PM on Monday, May 2, 2022.
